Worth Showing Up For

Walking away, or hanging up the phone from an exchange with friends, I often rethink the words I gave away.  I wonder if I left the other person stronger.  I question if what I had to give was enough to leave them better – or did I just throw out a messy jumble of thoughts.  Was what I had to give enough?

I asked this question too many times before realizing I was asking the wrong question.  What I have to give will never carry as much weight as the presence I chose to share.  Showing up for someone in a moment, this will always be enough.

People don’t need to hear the right words as much as they need to see our steady feet.  You don’t have to gather up the perfect thoughts, or carry the right gift.  You are the right gift, my friend.  The truest version of you is the truest gift to those around you.

Showing up, your feet whisper “you’re worth showing up for”  Empty handed, you are giving away a heavy truth.  These are silent words worth speaking.

So, today, here’s to showing up.  Here’s to honest and steady steps.

Remind someone that they are worth it today.  That they are worth your empty-handed presence.  Here, you will always be so much more than enough.
